What You'll Do

  • Business Acumen: Understand Uber’s business and product priorities on safety, identity and accessibility. Identify opportunities, risks, and strategic investments that strengthen Uber’s reputation and policy goals.
  • Campaigns & collateral: Collaborate with research teams, safety experts, and third parties to quickly develop politically-relevant, evidence-based deliverables telling Uber’s safety and accessibility story in new, creative ways.
  • Thought Leadership: Track public discourse on safety and accessibility issues pertinent to Uber. Create and amplify compelling narratives to support Public Policy and Communications teams in building confidence in Uber’s products and debunking misconceptions.
  • Regulatory & Crisis Response : Preserve the business’s ability to develop and deploy safety controls and accessibility features by developing global advocacy strategies and supporting local teams to adapt and execute them locally. Support cross-functional teams responding to safety incidents where needed.
  • Policy counsel : Provide insights on political and regulatory trends to inform Uber’s product roadmap and design politically-aware go-to-market strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Build relationships with aligned organizations and thought leaders. Make sure Uber is in the rooms that matter to advance our agenda. Manage the Safety Advisory Board.
  • Team Management : Lead and support a team of experts in safety and accessibility, supporting collaboration, performance, and professional growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, with 10+ years experience in public policy, advocacy, or government.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strategic vision for public policy impact with deep understanding of business priorities, product roadmaps and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven executor with a bias towards action, proactively identifying opportunities and solving problems.
  • Experience building evidence-based narratives that transform complex data and arguments into persuasive, accessible storytelling.
  • Proven relationship builder with think tanks, non-profits, academia, and policy stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating across Public Policy, Comms, Marketing, Legal, Operations and Product teams to align strategies and amplify narratives
  • Strong project management skills, delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable providing strategic policy counsel in often ambiguous situations, leveraging a deep understanding of the political and regulatory dynamics relevant to Uber.
  • Demonstrated success in policy analysis or regulatory advocacy
  • Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPP, MBA)
  • Prior management experience.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.

For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$186,000 per year - USD$207,000 per year.
