The Role
Key to this role is being creative and proactive, making wise decisions, and exercising sound judgment even when faced with ambiguity. Additionally, the role requires a collaborative team player who is resourceful, optimistic, and solution-oriented.
Responsibilities:
Track, vet, and respond to media requests
Draft communications plans, announcements, briefing materials, and messaging documents
Assemble and keep press lists up to date; developing and nurturing media contacts
Identify impactful story angles, craft pitches, and secure stories centered around Netflix’s business in Canada
Track, analyze and circulate press coverage reports and competitive research
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in corporate or agency settings with a focus on corporate communications and/or public affairs
Working media relationships at traditional and emerging business, trade and consumer outlets
A good understanding of the entertainment business and regulatory landscape in Canada
Experience handling a high volume of complex projects and tasks for multiple people and teams while simultaneously managing competing priorities
Ability to leverage insights, develop and secure stories aligned to company priorities
Clear and concise communication style; strong written and verbal skills that can effectively convey complex ideas
Meticulous organizational skills, good judgment of brand and comms risks, and effective time management
A curious and ambitious self-starter with an interest in what drives conversation and how Netflix can be at the forefront
Have a point of view, and be able to offer a unique perspective and voice
