By joining our team, you’ll make an impact by performing a variety of technical tasks related to electrical and system engineering aspects of rail and transit projects for Jacobs clients. You’ll help with supporting and leading project deliverables that are in conformance with applicable requirements, as well as within project time scales. Help us by supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary complex system and infrastructure-related projects involving rail rolling stocks (car and locomotives), signal, power, communication, and other systems. We’ll look to you to act as one of the company’s prime contacts with the client and be responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on the project.

• Support the design, testing, and implementation of rail and transit systems, including network systems, train control systems (including CBTC), communication systems, passenger information systems, and monitoring and diagnostic systems.

• Provide engineering support of procurements for both new and overhauled rail transit vehicles. Responsible for resolving design and system integration issues on transit vehicle projects. The engineer will support both office and field-based activities, including technology assessments, writing specifications, evaluating vendors, design reviews, troubleshooting, and problem resolution, testing support, and failure investigations.

• Lead the system integration team to ensure seamless coordination of among clients, contractors, and system suppliers. Address and resolve project issues, ensuring clear communication and efficient issue resolution.

• Perform interdisciplinary reviews to verify coordination with associated disciplines for each submittal package.

• Coordinate and develop positive relationships with contractors and their staff.

• Participate in meetings with other design disciplines, contractors, and client staff, assist with and participate in presentations and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

Here's what you'll need

• New York-based and will need to be physically present at the client’s job site (including office and field locations) per request.

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Electronic preferred) or significant industry experience is required

• Substantial post graduate years of engineering experience in the design and/or implementation of rail/transit systems is required

• Established track record of successful project delivery for major rail/transit system or technology projects

• General knowledge of rolling stock and/or train control and signaling operating concept

• Able to interact with clients, establish relationships, and articulate complex concepts

• Knowledge of rolling stock and rolling stock subsystems.

• Knowledge of Positive Train Control or Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) systems

• A license in Professional Engineering, and/or equivalent is desirable.
