Perform device, component, system, and vehicle-level validation and reliability testing, simulating realistic and accelerated dynamic and environmental conditions
Design, build, instrument, and automate testing equipment for mechanical, thermal, and electrical testing
Work together with Design Engineers, Reliability scientists, Material scientists, Quality, and Service to identify failure modes and generate design validation and reliability test plans
Analyze, document, and present test results to cross-functional teams and leadership
Lead testing efforts for a power electronics program; collaborate with other test engineers and technicians as peers to achieve test objectives
Investigate Power Electronics assembly and subassembly failures to drive product development and test improvement
Identify and execute experiments targeting new technologies or critical failures
Create novel ways to apply skills learned in the test lab to benefit vehicle products
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
Strong understanding of multiple of the following: statics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, materials science, fluid dynamics, measurement and instrumentation, and fatigue and failure analysis
Experience designing mechanical structures or machinery in 3D CAD software
Experience with an object-oriented coding language and scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
Experience designing test setups for mechanical and thermal performance testing, such as fixtures for vibe, shock, or cyclic thermal testing
Basic understanding of linear circuits and familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, DAQs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies. Familiarity with high voltage systems or power electronics preferred
Experience creating and executing design validation plans and test methods to validate performance requirements preferred
