What you’ll achieve

As a, you’ll be responsible for leading efforts of internal and external thermal development teams in all development project activities. And you’ll proactively engage with platform core team members to coordinate thermal design, including risk assessments and quality goal evaluations. You’ll also conduct thermal feasibility studies for new projects leveraging existing designs, while also generating new designs and patents (intellectual property). Furthermore, you’ll accumulate a thorough understanding of the thermal/mechanical development process while planning and executing associated development activities.


You will:

  • Take charge of thermal development activities with cross-functional supervisions on the most complex commercial PC devices, subsystems and components and provides design guidance and solutions for difficult thermal issues
  • Supports and influences integration of thermal strategy across technical disciplines internally and externally, especially drives technical partners to fulfill Dell’s thermal design requirement; Directs across products, technical disciplines and core teams on all thermal issues
  • Viewed internally and externally as a thermal technology and tools expert (Tool: FloTherm, Creo); Drive optimized performance between thermal and acoustic requirement to deliver best customer experience
  • Generate new process and specifications to meet the newly developed technology trends, including AI PC strategy to meet beyond-scoped customer’s expectation
  • Innovate patents to protect our core value and win the product competition

Essential Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in product design ie, laptop PC, desktop PC, and/or Commercial/Consumer Electronics
  • Sophisticated knowledge of mechanical, thermal and performance interactions, and ability to apply experienced understanding to resolve issues on specific thermal tasks
  • Ability to motivate and direct a workgroup with advanced understanding of appropriate system architectures and product development from thermal perspective; ability to work with and feel comfortable working in a Scrum environment
  • Advanced understanding of using 3D CAD (Computer Assist Design) and FloTherm thermal simulation tools; Solid experience on thermal design knowledge/resolutions and relationship with industry solution providers for daily tasks
  • Excellent working knowledge of thermal engineering and industry design guidelines with expertise in the areas of design for large-scale production, sheet metal, injection molding and heat extraction

Desirable Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and or Thermal Engineering
