Thermal System Architect

The candidate for this role requires a high level of creativity, drive, leadership, and design skills. Thermal Product Architects at Dell are responsible for leading and defining the thermal cooling solutions for product designs across a large breath of skillsets, including: structural, thermal, manufacturing, serviceability, and reliability. This position requires multi-discipline strengths within mechanical engineering to lead designs, drive system level decisions, and represent the team at the cross-functional reviews.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position are to establish product thermal requirements, engineer the product to meet those requirements and validate that the product meets those requirements. This involves working with internal development teams, external suppliers and development partners to develop innovative solutions for PCs using leading-edge engineering software, tools and processes.

Essential Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical/Thermal Engineering (Masters is a plus) or similar field with 5+ yrs experience in electronics cooling. Alternatively a Masters with 3+ yrs experience
  • Driven self-motivated individual that is willing to solve complex problems
  • Must possess strong communication skills with a high degree of efficacy to navigate and relate to multiple audience levels
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a diverse, multi-function team environment
  • Strong heat transfer / cooling background and aptitude to assess and optimize program tradeoffs such as cost, performance, quality, and schedule


Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with both Passive and Advanced Cooling (Liquid or Alternate) designsand prior computer architecture experience
  • Technical experience in Thermal Systems Controland prior experience managing and working with a global engineering team
  • CFD experience
