***This role must work onsite from our Quincy, MA location.
This EH&S Manager role will lead the overall Environment, Health & Safety program, including development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices for our Quincy Distribution site. This person will be responsible for reinforcing the importance of Environment, Health & Safety in the organization by working with plant senior management team to integrate Environment, Health & Safety performance into facility operations and develop opportunities to provide strategic and competitive advantage through cross-functional interaction. They will provide leadership to drive continuous improvement in Environment, Health & Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develops, maintains, and reviews the Environment, Health & Safety program to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Manages regular strategic review of EH&S in the organization and provides appropriate objectives and programs to improve overall EH&S performance and to defend against future liabilities.
- Participation in management review meetings to present Environment, Health & Safety performance, discuss upcoming Environment, Health & Safety actions to improve functional performance, and proactively identify and promptly address Environment, Safety & Health issues which may affect operations or may provide strategic advantage to the business.
- Establishes and tracks metrics for assessing EH&S effectiveness in the organization, including the OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), the OSHA Lost Worktime Case Rate (LWR) and ISO 14001,45001 and 50001 performance goals.
- Develops and executes a plan to reduce worker injury and lost time rates.
- Leads the creation and maintenance of an appropriate EH&S culture through cross-functional cooperation, communications, promotions and training.
- Establishes the priorities and manages the implementation of environmental management programs.
- Responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Environmental Management System.
- Responsible for appropriate procedures, approvals, co-ordination and control of hazardous, regulated and solid wastes. Manages all EH&S regulatory reporting requirements.
- Responsible for emergency planning and takes leadership role in EH&S emergency situations. Ensures that adequate evacuation and response arrangements are in place for fire, accidents and all other emergency situations.
- Represents the company on EH&S affairs with relevant external parties ensuring adequate response to all regulatory and legal issues.
- Works in partnership with other Boston Scientific EH&S professionals to establish or adopt company demonstrated best practices relevant to our industry.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management or related degree
- 8+ years working in an operations or industrial/construction environment
- 5+ years of hands on experience leading EHS related activities and projects
- 2+ years of experience managing people
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with EH&S or FDA audits
- Knowledge of: ISO14001, ISO50001, ISO45001
- Professional certifications, CSP, ASP, OHST CHMM
