Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel - Litigation


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage defensive pre-litigation demands and litigation matters through their entire life cycle.

  • Hire and oversee outside litigation counsel.

  • Provide regular legal advice and guidance to internal client groups.

  • Work on a team with other attorneys and legal professionals.

  • Perform a wide variety of attorney tasks.

  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders.

  • Ensure project deliverables and timelines are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.

  • At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency or a combination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department and/or government agency. Previous experience in the financial services industry and/or in providing regular advice to HR teams is a plus but not required. Applicants without financial services experience who otherwise meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.

  • Federal court or state appellate court clerkship.

  • Ability to manage a large number of matters across a range of substantive legal areas.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and flexibility to adapt to changing needs.

  • Ability and desire to learn new areas of law.

  • Ability and willingness to work as a team player.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Manager, Sr. CounselThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
