Tax Senior Analyst, AVP

Custody Tax Information Reporting

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management and execution of functions from the Tax Information Reporting process tree including, but not limited to, leading tax form preparation process, review of tax information forms, maintenance and governance of legal entity.
  • Acts as a team leader and executes operational and project initiatives.
  • Acts as an internally and externally recognized subject matter expert.
  • Develops best practices and implements appropriate procedures and controls to ensure consistent compliance with tax documentation requirements for FATCA, and/or CRS requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison between Custody and key stakeholders.
  • Supports internal and tax authority audits.
  • Contributes towards departmental requirement to adheres to strict regulatory and compliance requirements per tax authority and Citi policy.
  • Reviews written tax policy and procedures, research and respond to inquiries from operational areas.
  • Resolves complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines, or processes.
  • Directs day-to-day work of junior level employees.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Education - Bachelors (BA) required.
  • Well versed in U.S. tax information reporting rules applicable to U.S. Persons and non-U.S. Persons.
  • Good working knowledge of IRS series 1099 and 1042-s forms, form 945, Forms W-9 and W-8 and their associated requirements.
  • Knowledge of Income Sourcing rules.
  • Knowledge of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) regulations, inter-governmental agreements (IGAs), and associated reporting requirements.
  • Project Management experience and strong organizational skills required.
  • Must be eligible to work in US. This position does not offer VISA sponsorship.
  • This location will be at our Tampa, FL office and is eligible for hybrid work, 2 days in the office per week is required.

Critical Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills to drive engagement and close interactions with key stakeholders. Provide basic advisory services primarily for internal clients
  • Ability to examine processes and procedures, experience with Process Re-engineering. Re-design and Process Automation experience is preferred
  • Ability to act as a change agent for organizational and product transformational initiatives
  • Well versed in standard desktop technology with advanced Excel skills. Adobe Acrobat DC, Visio and Access experience preferred
  • Ability to interact with all levels of internal customers and senior management
  • Liaison with Corporate Tax for complex tax advisory inquiries and policy requirements
