Your key responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to the Vice Chair and Americas Chief Communications Officer.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that support the Vice Chair’s objectives and the company's mission. By doing so, engage and inspire EY people across a large and diverse business.
  • Enable transformative change through the creation of strategic, inspirational, and authentic communications. Leverage innovation and analytics to ensure communications are audience-centric and impactful.
  • Create a strategic communications plan for the Vice Chair and lead creation of core content and supporting material
  • Lead the development of internal communications materials including talk tracks for internal events and videos, and internal emails and messages.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends to advise the Vice Chair on communication opportunities and risks.
  • Coordinate across Brand, Marketing and Communications teams to ensure alignment of messages across all platforms and leaders.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Manage the communications calendar for the Vice Chair, ensuring timely and relevant content distribution and preparation for upcoming communications.
  • Develop and coach high performing communications team members.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Communications experience in a world-class global organization within B2B sectors, with 15 years+ experience in communications related roles.
  • A strong understanding of financial concepts, accounting principles, and the overall financial landscape. This includes knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • A basic understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, such as SEC reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and other relevant regulations.
  • Strategic thinking, specifically anticipate issues on complex and/or sensitive matters and bring solutions.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing and enhancing corporate reputation.
  • Experience with regulator matters and public affairs communications is beneficial.
  • Deep and current expertise in external and internal communications, and experience with sensitive communications and crisis.
  • Ability to manage key resources needed to execute and develops junior team members.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing strategic communications, preferably within a professional services firm or other large global companies.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and the ability to interpret financial statements and reports.
  • Must have crisis communications experience.
  • Must have speech writing experience.
  • Experience supporting C level executives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or similar area or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree highly desirable.

Other requirements

  • This role requires travel throughout the US.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $185,700 to $401,100. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $232,100 to $417,900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
