Join the Materials Engineering team within the Global Product Engineering Services organization. You will provide technical consulting for the area of welding and metallurgy in accordance with internal and external customer requirements. You will be responsible for interfacing with design engineers, production engineers, suppliers, and customers to generate procurement and manufacturing specifications regarding the in their end-item configuration.
You will team with other experienced engineers and ensure that material requirements are met on environmental control system and engines and propulsion programs.
The salary range for this position is $127K-$170K. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in welding engineering
- 6+ years of experience in welding applications, product design and processing.
- Familiarity and proficiency using AWS D17.1, AWS D17.2, AWS A2.4, and AWS A3.0
- Knowledge and experience working with joining processes such as:
- gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW),
- electron beam welding (EBW),
- laser beam welding (LBW),
- resistance welding (RW),
- inertia welding (IW)
- Brazing (BRZ)
- 1+ year Auditing experience (internal and external audits).
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.
WE VALUE
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy or aerospace engineering.
- Weld processes hands-on experience and understanding effect of design requirements on manufacturability (DFM)
- Knowledge of automated/robotic welding processes
- Wide proven experience of the subject. Recognized as specialist within the special process or certifications/credentials such as:
- International Welding Specialist (IIW),
- European Welding Specialist (EWF) or
- Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng),
- Knowledge of the NADCAP system and requirements.
- Understanding and working knowledge of Aerospace Quality systems AS9100 and NADCAP AC7110 requirements.
- Metallurgy domain – knowledge of materials used for Honeywell Torrance site design applications such as Steel, Nickel, Aluminum and Titanium based alloys.
- Experience providing technical guidance for selection and use of metals in product applications, in accordance with Honeywell and industry specifications and requirements.
- Experience performing drawing reviews to ensure customer and internal material and process requirements are properly incorporated into Honeywell designs.
- Materials and metallurgy in addition to in depth knowledge and experience with welding processes, as a plus having basic knowledge in one or more of the following areas for Aerospace applications: brazing, casting, heat treatment, forging, materials testing or nondestructive testing.
- Experience with NADCAP, AWS and AMS specification requirements is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate ability to interface with customers in design reviews.
- Demonstrate ability to interface with and audit suppliers for process certification and conformity to Honeywell fixed and/or special processes and quality standards.
