The Sr. System Planning Engineer for AWS Data Center Power Generation and transmission Infrastructure owns the successful delivery of the newest generations of data center energy innovations, and electrical power generation infrastructure technologies from concept to at-scale global implementation.

International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary. Support could consist of working on international teams and could require developing engineering deliverables and design document packages. An understanding of international electrical design requirements is preferable.

- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.- Eight (8) or more years performing Power Systems Engineering and Analysis or as a Power System Planner in an electric utility with Transmission system planning focused experience- Effective communication and writing skills with the ability to communicate complicated technical issues in a succinct manner to executive leadership.- Familiar with NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE transmission planning reliability standards- Understanding of ISO-NE Transmission Planning Process and Procedures- Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, losses, etc.

- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant design experience.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
- Knowledge of Carbon Neutrality and Global Net-Zero Carbon Objectives- Direct experience with the construction, operation, or maintenance of generation plants, energy storage assets, and substations.
- Understanding of mechanical equipment and system design.
- Experience with fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
- Experience with Hyperscale Distributed Energy Projects
- Experience with large-scale utility plant design and interconnection.
- Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards.
- Capable of working in a highly fast-paced, ambiguous environment, managing conflicting priorities and deliverables.
