The impact you will make in this role

  • Drive technical solutions for multi-faceted EHS issues to eliminate high hazards and risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement effective engineering controls and standards.
  • Identifies, plans, recommends, and completes safety programs, activities and projects leading to innovative applications and extensions of existing or new programs/systems.
  • Assists facilities in their understanding and actions to achieve the safety-related performance elements of the EHS Management Standard.
  • Leads and/or participate in safety and health audits and supports sites to address and resolve audit findings.
  • Supports development of other safety and/or process safety technical experts by mentoring, training, setting an example, and offering counsel.
  • Leads and/or actively contributes to multifunctional teams to resolve major safety challenges.
  • Leads Latin America (LATAM) area EHS assessments such as Process Hazard Analysis, machine guarding risk assessments, etc.
  • Provides advanced safety technical and program guidance to 3M sites and businesses within the LATAM area, while also providing tools and standard programs that can be applied throughout the area.
  • Provide translation assistance for Global Safety programs and guidance documents for the LATAM area.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the followingqualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering and a Post-graduation degree in Safety Engineering.
  • Combined experience in safety and/or engineering with emphasis on process safety management in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Experience performing risk assessment/analysis techniques such as Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Ability to speak fluent English and minimum of advanced level of Spanish.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Strong project management skills and experience with demonstrated ability to identify and achieve against milestones, timelines, and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results through collaborative efforts and through navigation of ambiguity.
  • Ability to lead, influence and inspire others across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong safety experience around Safe Work Practices (Confined Space Entry, Lockout / Tagout, Hot Work and non-routine work)
  • Experience in the design and implementation of comprehensive risk assessment strategies, tools, and systems
  • Engineering control design and implementation experience.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
