Job Summary:
In this role, the Sr. Director of Operations has primary responsibility for providing leadership, management and direction to Senior Managers and Managers across Arizona’s network of manufacturing sites. The position provides exemplary leadership in delivering the overall budget goals, objectives, and KPI-s, in addition to the execution of Arizona’sTransformation leadership will becore to this role, whilst executing on the investment and scale-up of key programs and the delivery of the transformation across the manufacturing network over the next 3-5 years e.g. culture and complexity associated with drug handling / finished packaging.Overall, this role calls for a Senior Leader with a proven track record of performanceand tenacity to sustain ongoing transformation and change to underpin the global CM vision and investment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads and directs overall operations across the network of Arizona’s manufacturing sites to achieve the short, medium and long-term business goals and objectives as set out and agreed with Senior Leadership.
- Ensures the overall safety and welfare for all employees and stakeholders across the Arizona network.
- Prioritizes the development of talent, including performance management and succession planning.
- In support of an innovative / continuous improvement work environment, leads and manages a high performing team to deliver against defined business goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
- Responsible for ‘Operational Readiness’ with respect to new programs, including the identification (and implementation as appropriate) of ‘Best in Class’ technologies, solutions, and practices.
- Champions a culture of compliance against West policies and procedures.
- Champions the vision that ‘every customer experience with West, will be a positive one’.
- Fosters and encourages global shared learnings e.g., technology best practices, resource rotations, Operational Excellence / Lean etc.

- Sets and monitors the performance of the site against standards and targets in manufacturing, finance and cost control, sales revenue, quality assurance, engineering and maintenance, supply chain, legal compliance, HS&E and human resource management.
- Ensures the highest level of customer service viz meeting customer program commitments, delivery performance, lead times, responsiveness, flexibility, and quality assurance.
- Establishes and oversees budgets, plans, policies, and programs that will effectively implement the business strategies and objectives.
- Ensures products meet the requirements of approved production plans at minimum costs within quality limits & consistent with FDA, cGMP, ISO & OSHA requirements.
- Ensures ongoing transformation across the network whilst building credibility with key stakeholders through day-to-day sustainable performance.
- Liaises and collaborates with other site and global leaders to ensure strategies, plans, and activities are integrated and aligned with the overall corporate objectives.
- Develops and maintains solid working relationships with the community, government agencies, and customers.
- Conforms with and abides by all laws, regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Science or Engineering degree).
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accountability with demonstrated results in leading manufacturing operations and large-scale programs.
- Must have at least 6 to 10 years’ senior management experience in high-volume Medical Devices manufacturing.
- Track record of high performance preferably in a Medical Devices / Drug packaging Contract manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated senior leadership ability with tangible results demonstrated.
- Respected leadership that galvanizes teams to pursue transformation and high performance.
- Deep technical understanding of manufacturing engineering, preferably within Medical Devices and Drug Packaging environment.
- Deep understanding of Operational Excellence and ideally a proven track record of leading major change / Operational Excellence programs.
- Highly analytical with proven devices manufacturing site leadership experience.
- Strong track record of innovation or driving transformational projects through to completion.
- Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels in the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace and drive change within a mature, global matrixed function.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Transformation and complex change management experience within Medical Devices / Drug Packaging Contract manufacturing environment.
- Customer exposure to high level pharma companies.
- Lean / 6Sigma Blackbelt
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time. Occasionally must be able to travel globally e.g. international travel per quarter
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Manufacturing environment up to 30% of the time.
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to understand and interpret complex business concepts.
