Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Power BI Specialist with over 8 years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, and data analysis. This role requires extensive experience in developing advanced Power BI dashboards and reports, a deep understanding of data modeling, and strong analytical skills. The Senior Power BI Specialist will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to provide insights, drive data-driven decisions, and support strategic initiatives. This is a key role in our analytics team, responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Power BI solutions to meet evolving business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations that effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into Power BI solutions, and guide data-driven decision-making.
  • Build and optimize complex data models within Power BI, using DAX and Power Query to implement calculations, KPIs, and advanced metrics.
  • Conduct data analysis and interpret trends to identify key insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through rigorous testing, data validation, and quality checks.
  • Develop custom visuals and enhance dashboard interactivity to meet unique business requirements and improve user experience.
  • Mentor and train junior team members on Power BI best practices, DAX, data modeling, and visualization techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date on Power BI capabilities, including new features, custom visuals, and updates to improve performance and functionality.
  • Work closely with data engineering and IT teams to ensure efficient data integration, scalability, and performance of the BI environment.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related role, with a focus on Power BI for at least 5-6 years.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and the creation of custom visuals.

Skills:

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Proven track record of designing complex Power BI solutions that drive insights and support business decisions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Experience in data warehousing concepts, data governance, and best practices in data management.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based BI environments (e.g., Azure, AWS) and other visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members.

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan.
