As abased in
Sacramento, California, you’ll have the chance to perform geotechnical engineering design, management, and analysis for the signature Delta Conveyance tunnel project. You will be involved in design of foundation systems, seismic analyses, collection and management of geotechnical data, settlement evaluations, and design of deep shoring systems associated with the intakes, pump stations, tunnels, and shafts. You will prepare and review technical reports, data reports, and baseline reports.
You’ll also participate in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing); geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of the construction of geotechnical structures (earth retaining structures, deep foundations, dams, tunnels, and shallow foundations), as well as oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in geotechnical design.
- Flexibility to travel for office and field assignments.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- California PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
- Previous experience in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems.
- Knowledge of and experience with APile, LPile, Shaft, Slide or SlopeW, GRLWeap, Bentley gINT, OpenGround, and AutoCAD.
