Job Description:
The Japan Country Logistics Leader will oversee and manage all logistics operations within Japan, ensuring efficient and effective distribution of products. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement in logistics processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive logistics transformation in Japan to ensure effective distribution and cost efficiency.
- Lead as chief change agent for strategic initiatives for logistics transformation within 3M Japan.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to support the company's business objectives in Japan.
- Oversee all logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
- Manage relationships with logistics service providers and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and service levels.
- Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, providing coaching and mentoring.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as supply chain, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations.
- Implement and maintain best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
- Prepare and manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems, including SAP.
- Experience with logistics technology and innovations.
- Fluent in Japanese and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with international logistics and customs regulations.
Working Conditions:
- This position is based in Shinagawa Tokyo, Japan, with occasional travel within the country as required.
- The role may require working outside of regular business hours to meet operational needs.
