Job Description:

The Japan Country Logistics Leader will oversee and manage all logistics operations within Japan, ensuring efficient and effective distribution of products. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement in logistics processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive logistics transformation in Japan to ensure effective distribution and cost efficiency.
• Lead as chief change agent for strategic initiatives for logistics transformation within 3M Japan.
• Develop and implement logistics strategies to support the company's business objectives in Japan.
• Oversee all logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
• Manage relationships with logistics service providers and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and service levels.
• Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, providing coaching and mentoring.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as supply chain, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations.
• Implement and maintain best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
• Prepare and manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in logistics software and systems, including SAP.
• Experience with logistics technology and innovations.
• Fluent in Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
• Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with international logistics and customs regulations.

Working Conditions:

• This position is based in Shinagawa Tokyo, Japan, with occasional travel within the country as required.
• The role may require working outside of regular business hours to meet operational needs.
