The Sr. Employee Relations Lead Investigator’s primary responsibilities are to conduct investigations of HR-related concerns escalated to the Employee Relations & HR Policy discipline from all sources, and to facilitate Global Disciplinary Review (GDR) meetings. The role requires a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments in Employee Relations investigations and Employment Law and contributes to the discipline’s directional strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent investigations, of highly complex HR-related concerns, including Ethics Office, executive and other escalations in order to thoroughly fact find, reach investigative conclusions, recommend resolutions and mitigate risk to the franchise within prescribed timeframes.
- Fully understand the Global Disciplinary Review Policy (GDR) and related standards and procedures and become a subject matter expert on the requirements of the GDR.
- Facilitate Global Disciplinary Review meetings at all levels and regarding substantiated investigations by all investigative units, and/or significant events matters, including critical thinking to review and credibly challenge investigation findings.
- Act as a change agent to identify and provide solutions for enhancements and efficiencies in the ER investigative process and GDR meetings.
- Adhere to established, and evolving standards, for detailed, auditable and required documentation.
- Foster strong work relationships and collaboration with key investigative partners (Employment Law, ICRM, CSIS and the Ethics Office).
- Track and analyze trends, diagnose root causes, and develop recommendations for corrective strategies.
- Exceptional report writing and the ability to deliver clear and concise investigative summaries in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Conduct investigations of concerns arising in the US and other regions as needed.
Qualifications:
- 8-10+ years Employee Relations or Employment Law experience or equivalent.
- Must hold extensive ER/HR investigation experience.
- Knowledge of employment policies, practices and employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to build solid relationships at all levels and influence collaborative outcomes, and particularly facilitation skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and across all functional areas, particularly senior levels (including business/function heads).
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Consistent demonstration of ownership and accountability (driven to “do the right thing”).
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, intense environment, and across multiple time zones.
- Experience working globally (preferred).
Education:
- Bachelors degree/University degree required, or equivalent experience
- Masters or advanced degree preferred
