Responsibilities include

  • Maintain client relationships and create a positive and trusting environment
  • Direct and lead all work activities relating to the preparation and delivery of multiple tax compliance engagements simultaneously
  • Lead tax delivery processes and build alliances through teaming, and/or act as a deep subject matter expert
  • Manage and monitor team's work, progress reporting, workload, quality and utilization/overtime distribution across the team
  • Troubleshoot and identify complex process problems, process data submissions, analyze and resolve complex issues
  • Take responsibility for quality of tax work product, and manage opportunity and engagement risk for the same
  • Leverage the usage of standard technologies and processes while driving efficiency and quality of deliverables
  • Prepare and present periodic reports for leadership to include project milestones, budget considerations, staffing needs, and executive summaries
  • Provide effective leadership, formal and informal feedback, and coaching to staff
  • Provide executive oversight to staff, seniors and managers and ensure work is being completed according to established timelines, quality standards and is compliant with relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Provide clear instructions, set expectations, and delegate tasks effectively to staff, seniors, and managers

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to identify and research/resolve key tax technical issues across multiple functions, when appropriate, and consult when necessary
  • Experience organizing and leading client conversations regarding complex or difficult topics
  • Ability to manage and mentor multiple team members delivering tax consulting and compliance projects for clients
  • Capable of identifying improvement opportunities and actively engage in implementing improvements

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, Law, or Economics
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a professional services or tax services organization in the financial services industry
  • Proficient in the use of various tax and accounting technologies
  • Excellent teaming, leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA) or licensed attorney

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $131,400 to $300,200. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $157,700 to $341,200. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
