As the manager of the Client Data & Networking Platform, you will partner with tech leads to shape the team’s strategy and deliver projects that transform the way 800+ engineers build and launch features.
Mentor and empower senior ICs to grow their impact beyond individual contributions, creating opportunities for them to lead technical initiatives that span across platforms and organizations.
Drive product thinking and cultivate a product mindset within the team by establishing user research processes, customer outreach, surveys, etc. to ensure the team’s tools and systems evolve to meet the changing needs of Airbnb's engineering community.
A Typical Day:
Prioritizing projects across stakeholders and scope to deliver impact to our client engineering community
Fostering relationships with partner teams and stakeholders
Collaborating with other platform teams on shared projects / principles
Coaching and mentoring the team with empathy to do their best work while growing in their roles and responsibilities
Partnering with Staff engineers to assist them in aligning architecture trade-offs and designing strategy
Contributing to the broader organization’s culture and processes with a “first team” mentality
Your Expertise:
9+ years of overall engineering experience with 3-5+ years as a full-time manager
BS or MS in CS or related field
Experience working on a client platform (Android, iOS or Web), familiarity or interest in GraphQL and client performance.
Experience and desire to act as the team’s product manager
Able to effectively work with senior leadership in setting strategic 12+ month direction.
Experience supporting and coaching multiple Staff+ and Senior engineers
Experience managing a remote/distributed team
Experience working on or leading an Infrastructure or Platform team supporting a medium to large engineering organization
