Program Manager, Hardware Engineeringto join the team.

As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 6+ years of managing E2E hardware product development, preferably in cloud infrastructure hardware
  • 1+years of high-volume Storage / Compute server design and manufacturing

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing E2E hardware product development, preferably in cloud infrastructure HW or server development.
  • Proven program management experience from NPI to post-product launch.
  • Proven leadership, management, facilitation, and problem-solving skills including L1/L2 Triage Capability
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, and experience working effectively with all organizational levels
  • Proven experience prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure, fast-faced environment.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office tools (Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc.) and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of high-volume Storage / Compute server design and manufacturing is desired.
  • Knowledge about datacenters & operation at scale

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year. Responsibilities
  • rive virtual teams of functional leads including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain,networkingand datacenter operations for documenting a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for the new product development and leading the project team to meet stated milestones.
  • Technical Program Management for new Cloud hardware development-Drive the development, planning & execution of a holistic cross functional product development and/or launch strategy.  Provide technical leadership andidentifytechnical risks.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technology development partners to form a cohesive development plan.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of theproducttechnical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies forestablishingan accurateand effective project infrastructure.  Leverage experience and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieveobjectivesthrough a cross functional team.
  • Responsible for effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies while ensuringtimelydecisions are being made.
  • Hold accountability for team and most or all portions of the work to deliver best in class architecture solutions.
  • Conducts risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and mitigation of risks, recovery from risks.
  • Communicate to and regularly interact with leadership, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product level decisions.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process whereit’sneeded. Recognize the situations where each approach is mostappropriate.
  • Ensure cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards development milestones and overall readiness for all new Data Center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments.
  • Use program management tools and communication methods to ensurecommon understandingof program plan of record to stakeholders.
