The Supplier Engineer supports the metals category team role is responsible for assessing components against system-level requirements and partners with cross-functional groups to resolve supplier-related issues. This role works to improve supplier performance, mitigate risks for supplied materials, and drive strategies to support supply chain objectives. NOTE: This is a hybrid position, which will require you to work on-site at least 3 days per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, and process development teams on design requirements for new product development; troubleshoot issues related to the designs, materials or processes of new and existing products
- Engaging with Global Sourcing category teams as a technical lead to establish and execute category objectives
- Working with suppliers to understand manufacturing processes and ensure repeatable and reproducible quality during the life of the product
- Interfacing with suppliers and category team members to investigate supplied material issues or supply constraints; support material cost reduction projects to meet category and divisional goals
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to execute changes initiated by BSC or suppliers; assist with projects to improve processes, supplier capability, capacity, and ensure compliance
- Assisting with identifying emerging issues and implement recovery action plans
- Reviewing and managing supplier change requests through the Supplier Change Impact Assessment (SCIA); execute change notices and approval processes
- Supporting qualification activities through the design and coordination of engineering tests and experiments including DOE; review and provide feedback supplier test method validations, and PFMEA
- Analyzing test results to provide summarized reports and documentation on findings; make recommendations to technical teams and leadership
- Maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented processes and procedures
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal and external teams
- Working knowledge of statistical methods, six sigma and DOE
- Ability to travel globally up to 10%
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering with at least 1 year of engineering experience
- Experience with metallurgy, metals, and/or packaging
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels
