The Controllers discipline is responsible for theintegrity and control of Citi's financial books and records
The role requires leadership, execution of strategy and management of the Equity Markets Controllers team, ensuring execution of strong globally consistent controls and reporting integrity
:
- Strengthening the Control environment by ensuring a strong Risk and Control framework is in place and operating effectively.
- Providing direct management of the Equities Markets Controller team
- Ensuring the Integrity of Global Revenues, Expenses, Net Income and Balance Sheet reporting for Equites including 10Q/10K SEC reporting and related disclosures.
- Ensuring daily reporting of P/(L), PAA and associated processes and Controls are operating effectively.
- Providing direct management of the Equities Markets Controller team
- Ensuring that the corrective actions of all audits and regulatory findings are tracked and appropriately remediated in a consistent timely manner.
- Working closely with the Global business head to ensure that Finance concerns are appropriately prioritised; providing regular updates on potential regulatory or control related changes that will require Business support/involvement.
- Chairing and actively participating in various global governance meetings relating to Reporting and Controls.
- Working closely with the Controller Sox/ Risk and Controls team to provide input into the creation of any changes in policy or procedure, and then to ensure that those changes are implemented within Equities Markets Controllers in a consistent manner.
- Working closely with the Equities Valuations team to ensure Markets Controllers and Valuation Control Groups have clear guidance on the latest challenges/priorities in valuations space, particularly in anticipation of and response to regulatory areas of focus.
- Assist in technology prioritization across the suite of systems in Equities, ensuring robust connectivity with the strategic Finance systems globally.
- Proactively manage risk and controls related to the Equities business and escalate concerns in compliance with our escalation policy.
- Drive continuous process enhancement efforts to strengthen controls and actively participate in strategic transformation efforts as required.
- Manage the budget and planning, performance evaluations, career development, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and turnover.
- Act as a thought-leader within the team by sharing best practices and identifying scalable enhancements and innovations.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15+ years related business experience required; Product Control experience controlling derivatives / trading desks.
- Must have very strong knowledge in accounting , project management, financial modeling and experience with derivative products.
- Extensive experience in communicating with regulators
- Must have extensive knowledge of the Equities (including Prime) business and associated P/(L)/ PAA and Financial reporting
- Strong Risk and Control skills and control mindset – able to determine strategic direction and drive improvemnts in the control framework.
- Excellent accounting and anlytical skills, expecially in the areas of Equity Product Control and 10Q/10K Financial reporting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written required;

- Master’s degree preferred
- Professional accountancy qualification
