Key Responsibilities

  • Define and Execute the Platform Engineering Strategy: Develop and implement the vision for engagement ecosystem, including storefronts, digital purchases, subscription services, and Venues and events.
  • Enhance Platform Capabilities: Drive innovation in real-time personalization, intelligent search, promotions, and recommendation systems to elevate the shopping experience.
  • Scale Sony’s Subscription Infrastructure: Optimize subscription services to ensure seamless onboarding, engagement, and retention.
  • Advance Audience Technology & Engagement: Leverage data-driven solutions for audience segmentation, retargeting, campaign automation, and content personalization.
  • Develop Customer Lifecycle Acquisition Technology: Build and enhance technology solutions that optimize engagement, conversion, and retention:
  • Engagement & Conversion – Implement AI-driven personalization,
  • recommendation engines, and behavior-driven automation.
  • Retention & Loyalty – Improve email automation, CRM solutions, loyalty programs, and re-engagement campaigns.
  • Customer Experience & Personalization – Deploy on-site behavior tracking, AI-powered search, and tailored content delivery.
  • Build a centralized Developer Portal & API Ecosystem for documentation, SDKs, and API access, ensuring streamlined onboarding and self-service tools for developers.
  • Reduce friction in the developer journey by implementing automated testing
  • environments, sandboxed API access, and AI-powered documentation assistance.
  • Lead Account and Identity Systems: Oversee the development and integration of secure, scalable identity and authentication services, ensuring seamless sign-in experiences and account security across Sony platforms.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Data, AI/ML, Security, Finance, and Operations teams to align commerce capabilities with business goals.
  • Build and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent in commerce, search, personalization, and identity technologies.
  • Ensure Compliance and Security: Maintain the highest standards for data privacy, security, and global regulatory compliance.
  • Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in commerce, fintech, or digital platforms, with at least 10 years in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise in commerce platforms, digital storefronts, subscriptions, account and identity management.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and event-driven systems.
  • Strong background in AI/ML-driven personalization, intelligent search, and recommendation systems.
  • Experience optimizing acquisition technology stacks, including audience segmentation, lifecycle, and campaign automation.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Ability to influence and partner with executives across product, marketing, finance, security, and operations.
  • A track record of attracting, developing, and leading world-class engineering teams.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, capable of aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.
  • Global experience with an ability to navigate cultural nuances and lead dispersed teams.

annual base salary for this position is $315,000 to $380,000.This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
