The Image Quality Scientist is responsible for research and development for new and existing imaging products in the GE Healthcare Surgery product line. They prove a concept to be valid by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Their work typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analysis the performance and implementation potential of a concept. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical knowledge. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.
Essential Responsibilities
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Specifying requirements which can be implemented by the engineering team
- Executing design to engineering standards
- Developing methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on image quality
- Verification and validation of system features and sub-systems relating to X-ray exposure control, image processing, and visualization.
- Working within a team to deliver technical solutions
- Working with external collaborators and/or technical leadership to ensure that the technical deliverables are consistent with the goals of larger programs, projects or initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements
- MS or PHD in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 4 years relevant work experience.

- Broad exposure to medical imaging physics
- Ability to design and develop imaging algorithms
- Proficient in the use of software tools for analysis and simulation (MATLAB, Python, C++, etc)
