Senior Engineering Manager

Manager Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and implements long-termvision/direction/strategy

  • Ensures appropriate personnel management practices regarding recruitment and selection, adequate staffing, remuneration, performance appraisals, education and training, and management development policy.

  • Ensures an engaged, innovative, and inspiring working environment in the department by motivating, challenging, and coaching the department’s employees towards growth, entrepreneurial attitude & focus on RESULTS.

  • Is co-responsible for achieving operational plans, collaborates with Project Managers & BU STET Leaders to ensure the optimal allocation of personnel to the projects and effective project management.

  • Critical accountability is in guiding the team at a technical and project management level to ensure project KPIs are met.

  • Cooperates with relevant parties outside of the department. Works across the borders of the own department – e.g. formulate strategies or project proposals across department borders, cooperating with other department heads, programs and the business. Establishes a network with relevant players; scientific relations outside of the department and with the business - on all topics, and actively using this network to obtain input on technological developments, identifying trends and opportunities.

Your Team’s Responsibilities:

  • Reverse engineering of components & modules where technical documentation is not available

  • Accountable for resolving all technical challenges during the transfer process, which includes resolving product specification challenges, consulting with subject matter experts to guide suppliers, reverse engineering, driving design review workshops, develop test fixtures, etc.

  • Work with suppliers to design equivalent modules that meet system level requirements

  • Responsible to ensure product requirements are fully defined to enhance quality through transfer projects, this would involve reverse engineering as needed.

  • Full responsibility to achieve critical KPIs for QUALITY and productivity targets that are tied to the annual business plans.

  • Perform detailed cost analysis of material and manufacturing processes to ensure that high quality products are delivered at optimum cost from target suppliers. Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills, across functions and organizational layers; proven ability to manage relationships at all org levels.

  • Technical domain will cover sheet metal, plastics, power supplies, batteries, PCBAs, etc

  • Demonstrated ability to work in acomplex/global/matrixenvironment.


Qualification Profile:

  • Experience in design cycle of complex electro-mechanical systems.

  • Strong project-management skills/experience

  • Proven experience in managing a team of engineers

  • Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills, across functions and organizational layers; proven ability to manage relationships at all org levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in acomplex/global/matrixenvironment.

  • Experience with global supplier management (technical or project based); knowledge of Supply management strategies and tools is highly desirable.

Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • 15+ years’ experience in a high-tech industry with a focus on engineering & project management. Experience in supply chain and/or procurement related function is highly desirable.

  • 10+ years of managing direct reports

  • PMP or Six Sigma certification highly desired
