As a Home Lending Originations Attorney within JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s Home Lending Legal Group, you will provide both transactional and strategic legal support to our Home Lending business. You will work closely with compliance and business teams to monitor regulatory changes, draft and refine policies, and manage legal risks. This role is designed for a seasoned attorney with deep experience in mortgage originations law, committed to upholding our firm’s standards of excellence while driving innovation in legal support services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations impacting the mortgage originations business.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Department to track regulatory changes and advise relevant lines of business in a timely manner.
- Draft, review, and implement policies and procedures that support legal and regulatory requirements.
- Advise management and senior leadership on mortgage originations risks and develop practical legal solutions.
- Support Home Lending, Affordable and Community Lending, and other related teams by ensuring alignment with legal standards and practices.
- Assist in managing legal risks and ensure that internal and external representations are consistent with firm policies.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- J.D. degree with admission to practice law in the United States.
- Minimum of five years’ experience practicing law post-J.D., with at least five additional years in a mortgage originations legal environment.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to mortgage originations (e.g., TILA, ECOA, FCRA, RESPA, Fair Housing Act, UDAAP, and predatory lending laws).
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex issues simultaneously with strong project and priority management skills.
- Demonstrated success in advising senior management and key stakeholders on legal risk management.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Experience working within a large financial institution or corporate legal department.
- Familiarity with global financial regulations and compliance practices.
- Proven track record in developing and executing effective legal strategies.
- Experience in advising on complex transactional and regulatory matters.
