Your role and responsibilities
  • The Account Technical Leader – Financial Services - US is a client technical leadership role dedicated to IBM's most strategic financial services clients within the US. In this role, you will create and maintain proven, trusted technical advisor relationships at all levels within the client's organization, including key technology decision leaders & strategy owners. These relationships will help you uncover your client’s technology priorities and greatest challenges, understand and influence where your client wants to go, map that to IBM solutions and services, then orchestrate resources within IBM to bring those solutions and services to life.
  • As a strategic and systems thinker, and business influencer, you are well-versed in interpreting the client’s business requirements and translating those into enterprise technology architecture decisions. In addition, you will employ contemporary approaches like Agile Methodology and Design Thinking to conduct rigorous solution design and ensure the solutions we propose integrate seamlessly into the client’s IT environment.
  • In addition, you'll proactively optimize the IBM portfolio during solution design to drive integrated IBM business solutions. In this role, you can expect to influence and drive the client's innovation agenda by leveraging IBM Research, engaging in POCs and first-of-its-kind projects, and show an entrepreneurial mindset to lead IBM Client Engineering teams to co-create with their clients and change the way they do business.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Understanding of the structure and relationship between the fundamental components and participants in the financial services and/or insurance ecosystem.
  • Understanding of current business and technology challenges faced by stakeholders in the financial services and/or insurance ecosystem.
  • Ability to suggest, demonstrate, and apply innovation.
  • Hands-on-keyboard technology skills. Ability to demonstrate a technical capability through demonstration over showing a slide deck.
  • Hardware and Software Architectural, technical selling and presentation/demonstration skills
  • An ability to translate detailed and complex technical concepts to client and internal stakeholders at every level of communications.
  • Deep technical and architectural expertise across a variety of technologies including (but not limited to) cloud (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure - with general vmware and container skills), business automation, and infrastructure (including System z).
  • A proven leader with a history of coordinating an array of technical sales talent through demand generation, deal progression, post-close deployment, and ongoing, increasing adoption of deployed solutions.
  • Palpable people, communication, and collaboration skills, with a proven record of networking, co-creating, and influencing as the technical expert throughout the successful closure, and post-closure expansion of complex technology sales cycles. (c. $100k - $1 mil+ deals).
  • Experience of successfully applying Consultative /Challenger sales techniques that 'lead to solutions' vs. 'lead with solutions’.
  • Solid experience of using agile and other contemporary best practices (e.g., DevOps and design thinking) to successfully deliver in a way that's both nimble and fast.
