Industrial Engineering Internlocated in ourBuffalo Grove, IL
Reporting to thestudent will will work on capacity and workload studies, process improvement projects and operational metrics management in support of operations.
What a typical day looks like:
- Support the evaluation and identification of process improvement opportunities on all manufacturing related activities in our operation through time study
- Work on Kaizen Projects guided by an Industrial Engineer, applying Lean techniques focusing on cost reduction initiatives by reducing/eliminating non-value-added activities in the process
- Support Kaizen teams to measure and validate results from improvement projects
- Help to develop management control systems to aid in Kaizen to Business Needs planning
- Attend team meetings to support project work as needed
Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:
- Senior level student pursuing degree in Industrial Engineering or related major
- Basic Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge
- Microsoft Office suite and Basic Auto CAD software skills
- Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment
- Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills along with organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to present Lean Training instruction to manufacturing employees
- Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills, public speaking, and ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Previous internship experience in manufacturing a plus!
Internship Program Requirements:
- Available to start on June 2nd and work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
- Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
- 3.0 minimum GPA
Pay Range (Applicable to Illinois) $15.93 USD - $21.90 USD Hourly
