What you’ll be able to do
This person will:
- Develop and implement the diagnostic architecture strategy for automotive systems to ensure efficient fault detection, isolation, and resolution.
- Lead a team to define diagnostic requirements, protocols and tools for vehicle healthy monitoring and maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate diagnostic capabilities into vehicle systems and software architecture.
- Drive innovation in diagnostic architecture to enhance the reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness of automotive diagnostics.
- Establish and maintain standards and best practices for diagnostic architecture design and implementation.
- Manage the development and deployment of diagnostic tools and technologies for vehicle testing, validation and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure compatibility of diagnostic systems across different vehicle platforms.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on diagnostic architecture decisions.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
The minimum requirements we seek
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 10+ years experience in leading automotive diagnostic architecture groups
Our preferred requirements
- Masters degree preferred.
- A proven record of team creation, transformation, and leadership
- In-depth knowledge of automotive diagnostic protocols and standards such as ISO14229 UDS, OBD-II, and J1939
- Proficiency in designing and implementing diagnostic strategies for complex connected vehicle systems
- Expert knowledge in diagnostic communication interfaces (DCI) and diagnostic trouble code (DTD) strategies and management
- Experience working across teams and suppliers to ensure complete diagnostic coverage
- Strong understanding of software and hardware architecture for diagnostic tools and systems across manufacturing, service and the cloud
- Experience in implementing embedded systems including for safety critical embedded systems.
- Experience of embedded Linux, RTOS and related DevOps systems.
- Demonstrated time in role leading a large multi-disciplined organization focused on delivering development efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills both up and down the organization to achieve the desired results.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrated examples of applying systemic thinking, logic and reasoning skills to be able to identify opportunities, alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
- Organizational skill: Strong collaboration skills, clear and concise direction coupled with an ability to move within the organization to complete work and balance tradeoffs.
- Strategic thinking: Demonstrated examples of driving strategy from concept through to Production.
