Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Lead Software Engineer – Cloud Migration (Multiple openings) in Boston, MA.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead application migration process into AWS and Azure for U.S. Bank Payments organization using cloud technologies and open-source software and lead several application migration workstreams. Specific job duties include:

  • Build proof of concepts for technology stack using Open Liberty, WebSphere and Apache Tomcat and set enterprise standards for adoption of cloud technology standards;
  • Assess and select enterprise data migration tools for SQL, Oracle and MYSQL data migration;
  • Design and architect cloud-based solutions in Azure Cloud Assessment and review target state architectures design for legacy dotnet and mainframe applications into Azure cloud comparable solutions;
  • Develop, deploy, and test code using automated CI/CD pipeline and Ansible, Terraform and GitLab runners;
  • Lead AWS migration of legacy applications built using On-Prem data centers and legacy technology into Amazon cloud;
  • Create optimal design adhering to architectural best practices considering scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs;
  • Review tasks critically and ensure they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery and anticipate and communicate blockers and delays before they require escalation; and
  • Use, design and develop Microservices and design and implement solutions that integrate with other internal or vendor platforms.
  • Uses the following tools and technologies: Java, SpringBoot, Kafka, Open Liberty, Websphere, Apache Tomcat, CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, AWS, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Azure, and Microservices.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience as a systems/software engineer or developer.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must also have 36 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Designing and implementing AWS and Azure cloud-based solutions and cloud migration. 2) Building proof of concepts for applications stack migrations using Open Liberty, WebSphere, and Apache Tomcat. 3) Developing and deploying code using CI/CD pipeline and Ansible, Teraform and GitLab runners. 4) Using SQL, Oracle, and MySQL data migration tools in AWS environment. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.
