- Influence decision-making at the executive level, providing strategic legal advice on key business decisions and transactions.
- Provide strategic legal advice and support, particularly in high-demand areas such as mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, overseeing the implementation of advanced legal technologies and compliance programs.
- Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal's legal interests, developing and executing risk management strategies.
- Represent PayPal in litigation and other legal proceedings, managing high-profile cases and collaborating with senior leadership.

Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for employment law matters across multiple EMEAjurisdictions—includingLuxembourg, Ireland, the UK, Sweden, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Russia, Israel, Turkey.
- Lead and provide employment law guidance on matters involving European Works Councils, national works councils, and staff delegations, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and alignment with corporate governance standards.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders in EMEA and across the globe in a complex, matrixed environment – including within the U.S. Executive team, HR, Legal, Compliance, and Business functions.
- Manage EMEA employment-related disputes and litigation and internal dispute resolution.
- Manage external counsel relationships, budgets and legal spend.
- Lead global restructuring and reorganisation efforts as they relate to EMEA.
- Lead and advise on employment law aspects of: (1) complex global investigations; (2) supporting compensation team with Executive hiring, compensation and separations; (3) mergers and acquisitions, business partnerships, outsourcings and in-sourcings.
- Ensure adherence to applicable employment laws, collective bargaining agreements and European and Luxembourg banking regulations on sound remuneration principles as they relate to employment matters.
- Draft legal documents, including employment contracts, policies and procedures, separation agreements and relevant provisions in transactional documentation.
- Create and execute internal training sessions for HR, Legal, Executives, managers and employees on employment law matters.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in law from a recognized European jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing multi-country labor law matters, with direct responsibility for team compliance and issue resolution.
- Proficiency in MS Office and web-based tools, with the ability to leverage technology to support team operations and reporting.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills are a strong asset for managing cross-border teams.

- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative work environment.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, with demonstrated experience in managing labor and employee relations issues.
- In-depth knowledge of EMEA labor, social security, and employment laws, with practical application in team management.
- Exceptional organizational and strategic decision-making skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with confidence in negotiation and conflict resolution at the team and cross-functional levels.
- Familiarity with, and strong interest in, PayPal, mobile payments, emerging payment technology and the payments industry.
- Some travel is required.
