Certification and Conformance Regulatory Affairs Associate

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Certification and Conformance Regulatory Affairs Associate you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. The person hired for this position in the 3M Personal Safety Division (PSD) will be responsible for the activities associated with certification of SCBA Respiratory Protection products to NIOSH and NFPA standards:

  • Identifying the regulatory product certification requirements for assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) portfolios and geographies.
  • Preparing, maintaining and submitting regulatory documentation for product certification schemes applicable to PSD’s product portfolio in division and corporate systems.
  • Actively working with appropriate test labs, notified bodies, and agencies to submit products for certification, accelerate the registration process, and arrange manufacturing site audits as required to ensure conformance of products.
  • Collaborating with business portfolio leader(s), application engineers, quality, manufacturing and other cross functional roles to provideregulatory/complianceinput into PSD new product projects and conduct regulatory assessments for new products during the commercialization process.
  • Engaging with regulatory authorities, notified bodies, or agencies with any post-market follow-up activities or issues.
  • Performing routine regulatory tasks for new and existing products.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in all applicable standards andregulations/directives.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start from an accredited institution) AND two (2) years of experience in a regulatory affairs or related role in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution AND a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a regulatory affairs or related role in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in an occupational health and safety, scientific, or engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of experience with PPE in a regulatory affairs or related role in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Working experience in multinational companies
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to build internal and external networks and communicate effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Self-starter who can effectively work in a fast-paced environment, with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Experience and knowledge of firefighting equipment.
