You will be responsible for working side-by-side with supporting the customer's operations.

The Resident Engineer is an integral part of our mission within the enterprise sector, providing pre & post-sales support of Juniper Networks products. As an Extended Expertise Engineer, you will be the trusted advisor to our customers working on-site supporting our mission to help them quickly and completely adopt the Juniper portfolio of products. This is a highly technical role, and you will develop and maintain expert-level skill sets on our products and solutions deployed within the customer's environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To hold network information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer’s existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs.
  • To understand the Customer’s organizational structure and become familiar with the Customer’s network implementation and support processes and procedures to help in supporting a network that is available and sustainable.
  • To carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network.

  • To train the Customer’s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the Juniper Networks products
  • To assist the Customer in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures

Required Background Qualifications:

  • Interact with IP vendors to understand IP integration requirements and integrate all blocks, IPs, and sub-chips at a large SoC level.
  • Collaborate with the packaging team on Microbump/Probe Bump/Bump/Pad placement.
  • Build full chip floorplan, including pads/ports/bump placement, block placement and optimization, block pins placement and alignment, power grid, and RDL design, etc.
  • Develop the chip-level clock network and clock stations in collaboration with clock experts.
  • Budget timing among blocks and sub-chips at the chip level, generating block/chip-level static timing constraints.
  • Arrange, analyze, and optimize feedthrough and repeaters among all blocks/sub-chips at the chip level.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop platform and system level software/firmware for networking platforms.
  • Participate on a project team of engineers involved in development of software for Juniper Router products.
  • Contribute to all phases of software development, from requirements gathering through implementation and sustaining
  • Write functional, design and unit test specifications
  • Design and develop complex modules of embedded code, troubleshoot and resolve defects.
  • Good communications skills to work closely with HW, SW and systems teams, and promote team collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in CS/CE or similar field
  • 9+ years of Embedded systems development and debugging experience
  • Strong in C/C++, Embedded Systems and Device driver development in Linux/Unix environment
  • Hands-on experience on network switches/routers embedded system software development.
  • Experience in Ethernet interface, High-speed PHYs/ SERDES, Fabric management desired
  • Experience with bringing up new hardware
  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem solving skills are essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of hardware board design and layout
  • Development experience with PCIe, I2C, FPGA, Ethernet MAC/PHY, High Speed Buses
  • Experience with device drivers, interface management, Chassis management is a big plus
  • HA, ISSU and Virtualization knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent debugging skills and rich experience using various software, hardware, memory debugging tools

Minimum Salary: $140,800.00

Maximum Salary:$202,400.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $140,800.00 and $202,400.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
