This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cisco Product Legal team directly supporting the Splunk Business Unit. • Develop an understanding of Splunk’s observability products and the unique, relevant legal challenges specific to those products.
• Cultivate close working relationships with the sales, engineering, product management, business development, operations, finance, and legal teams bringing our products to market.
• Partner closely with legal teams supporting both supply chain and sales to negotiate complex commercial agreements with suppliers, partners, and customers.
• Provide tactical guidance to product management and engineering teams on new and existing services, products, and features throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Provide expertise on privacy and data protection issues on a global basis.
• Be adept at making sound legal judgments quickly to facilitate agile business execution.
• Manage legal requests from multiple internal clients, while prioritizing key transactions.

• Bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction, with good standing and at least 7 years of legal experience.
• Experience (minimum of 3 years) in in-house legal roles, with a demonstrated track record of advising senior leadership in product and engineering.
• Extensive experience advising on product development, engineering innovation, and go-to-market strategies, including practical, business oriented legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
• Strong expertise in intellectual property, advanced software licensing frameworks, and evolving data protection laws, with experience advising on their application in complex technical environments.
• Strong leadership abilities, with a proven capability to drive cross-functional collaboration, mentor team members, and contribute to fostering a high-performing and inclusive team culture.

• Demonstrated mastery in technology transactions, including drafting, negotiating, and closing complex commercial agreements such as SaaS contracts, enterprise licensing deals, and global data processing agreements.
• Advanced knowledge of and practical expertise with global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their implications for technology businesses, including experience developing compliance strategies for emerging technologies.
• Proven track record of delivering results in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, with the ability to simultaneously lead multiple high-priority projects to successful completion.

Job Responsibilities

• Technology Development and Testing: Evaluate, develop, and test new physical security technologies, participating in proof-of-concept testing to identify deployment suitability.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Physical Security Technology experience in Access control & video surveillance, Threat detection and alarm monitoring, Critical Event Management platforms, Visitor management systems.
• 5+ years of Software Development experience with a good understanding of data integrations and analytics.
• Demonstrable understanding of Physical Security Technology and IT infrastructure requirements
• Experience with architectural design , network devices VLANs, DHCP, when designing security systems.
• 5+ years of providing technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle , ensuring that the solution is built according to the defined architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical Skills:Expertise with physical security technologies (e.g., Lenel, Ambient AI), Critical Event Management and Mass Communication platforms (e.g., Everbridge, Alert Media, DataMinr), Software Development (Java, JavaScript, Oracle etc.,)

Security research including development of tools for vulnerability discovery, analysis, and mitigation. Development of fuzzers and static analysis tools to identify new vulnerabilities in software. Development of static and run-time analysis tools to figure out root cause and input conditions related to a vulnerability. • Experience with binary auditing and reverse engineering, and with related tools such as IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, Ghidra, etc. and with plugin development.
• Experience with common vulnerabilities and methods of exploitation, such as memory corruption, web application exploitation, file format vulnerabilities, protocol-based weaknesses, etc.
• Published technical contributions to the security community (e.g. CVEs, security advisories, blog posts (0-day/n-day analysis), open source contributions, academic publications, etc.)

In this role, you will deliver excellent legal support to Splunk – a 4.3B+/year sales organization. You will support the Splunk sales team, ensuring alignment between the business and Legal. Your role will involve supporting deals, resolving critical issues, negotiating with sometimes complicated customers. You will be accountable for overall quality of your Legal work product and ensuring the needs of the business are appropriately balanced against the risk to Cisco.

You will also:

• Build strong internal and external relationships while balancing the needs in Splunk’s sales theater with Cisco's global strategy and priorities;
• Provide deep knowledge of relevant aspects of U.S. laws concerning AI, data privacy/governance, and cybersecurity;
• Negotiate outbound product, software license, sales channel and strategic alliance sales, and SaaS contracts;
• Anticipate changes to relevant laws impacting Cisco's privacy program and security posture and its customers;
• Support the shaping of sophisticated transactions, including developing strategic relationships;
