Tax Accounting & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation and review of interim, quarterly, and year-end global tax provisions under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Support tax reporting deliverables received from controllers and tax managers across the Group
  • Contribute to US GAAP and IFRS disclosure preparation, including reconciliation of GAAP differences
  • Prepare and maintain tax provision memoranda and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX documentation and audit processes

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify and support implementation of process improvements in tax provision and compliance functions
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations and related schedules
  • Helping drive efficiencies on client’s or EY’s processes, designing and implementing simple solutions to complex processes, leveraging benefits of standardization, centralization and technology
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in tax reporting processes through design, control, and operational enhancements

Collaboration & Development

  • Assist in mentoring and developing junior staff on ASC 740, IAS 12, and other key tax concepts
  • Collaborate with internal tax, accounting, and finance teams, as well as external service providers

Skills and attributes for success

  • Broad and deep corporate tax compliance experience
  • Understanding of ASC 740 and IAS 12 frameworks
  • Corporate income tax experience (any country or countries)
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with multi-country teams
  • Ability to distil complex concepts into clear, actionable insights
  • Organized and able to deliver tax accounting in a short timeframe
  • Experience supporting and developing junior staff
  • Problem solving capabilities and process improvement mindset
  • Ability to manage time to deliver quality output

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Degree qualified
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate tax and withholding tax
  • Experience working in direct tax accounting, in professional services or industry (combination preferred, not essential)
  • Understanding of the tax reporting process, balance sheet reconciliation process, and basic understanding of direct tax compliance review
  • Good understanding of deferred tax concepts
  • Good experience in tax accounting packages and strong Excel skills
  • Agile to the changing client environment and able to provide quality deliverables under tight timelines
  • Experience providing tax services to a portfolio of clients
  • Proactive and able to identify opportunities for business development
  • Team player with the ability to add value to the current team

Ideally, you’ll also have

Manager - Direct Tax Compliance and Reporting

Join our fast-growing Direct Tax Compliance and Reporting team, situated within the Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) service line, as a manager. The role will give you the opportunity to work on EY’s largest multi-country client engagements in a tax accounting and direct tax capacity. This role will help you understand the global engagement metrics where you can contribute to the continuous process improvement plans and interact with global client management. The opportunity is for a manager who has prior technical knowledge:

  • Direct tax compliance management for multi-national companies, including strong technical foundation in at least one country’s direct tax laws, compliance filings and tax audit management. Identifying tax saving opportunities and risks from the compliance data, and driving compliance process improvement areas to attain efficiencies and value.
  • US GAAP and / or IFRS tax reporting to provide compliance. You will work closely with London based ETC teams or other teams in different GDS locations in assisting clients in their quarterly and annual tax reporting process and have the opportunity to grow a tax accounting advisory book of business
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations where you will review monthly/ quarterly reconciliations for our largest TFO engagements and have the opportunity to work in the automation and transformation of the service

Your key responsibilities

  • Support the Global Process Owner (GPO) with managing the clients direct tax compliance and tax audit and controversy across multiple countries
  • Oversight of the direct tax deliverables under the global outsourcing compliance engagement.
  • Support in overseeing the overall compliance process/engagement.
  • Managing the team and global client deliverables, central review of Direct Tax Global View Packs, presenting Global Data Analytics to the client where we will be sharing insights from client’s direct tax data across countries, helping the client manage major legislative changes which need to be planned for and tax opportunities which could deliver value.
  • Support the GPO to identify tax saving opportunities, risks, process improvements to deliver value beyond compliance to the client and to drive margin efficiency for the team.
  • Being the central point of contact for cross-country technical escalations, and ensuring the client receives a standardised and quality delivery across the board.
  • Help the client identify tax audit trends, learnings and mitigation strategies.
  • Inform local teams with client business understanding to support strategic tax audits, and to share known defence strategies that work from other client’s jurisdictions.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the EY global tax audit tracking tool, and use the data in this tool to extrapolate the above noted insights.
  • Support from time to time with user acceptance testing and tool development ideas for the EY global tax audit and controversy management tool and the corporate tax insights tool.
  • Managing the delivery and execution of tax accounting, account reconciliation and data analytics deliverables.
  • Review simplified centralised prepared provisions and return to provision accruals, review more complex provisions and return to provision accruals from EY local teams
  • Leading cross border delivery team.
  • Key client contact, communicating with clients and building strong relationships.
  • Managing account resourcing, budget and delivery
  • Implement new engagements and seek process improvement opportunities on engagements

You will be supporting across both our Direct Tax compliance and Tax Reporting delivery teams, being a route of escalation for members of the team if they cannot move issues forward. You will be expected to build strong relationships based upon trust and doing the right thing with our clients. You will ensure our teams are using our best practise documentation, and that agreed procedures and processes are adhered to on your engagements. You will also make sure our suite of technology tools is providing the output required to meet our contractual obligations.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Broad and deep corporate tax compliance experience, including tax audit management. Specialising in at least one country’s tax framework.
  • Business tax advisory experience, being able to identify tax opportunities and risks from global compliance data and discussions with client and EY country teams
  • Experience on working and managing large global outsourcing compliance engagements

Hybrid model: 2 days office/3 days remote

Broadly, the role will include leading on the enablement of controls related to (1) Anti-Money Laundering (AML), (2) Economic and Trade Sanctions and (3) Anti-Bribery and Corruption. The successful delivery of outcomes will require the Assistant Director to help develop and improve the teams, processes, technology and policies which form part of the compliance programme. The role will include providing guidance and leadership to the Central Financial Crime team who lead the execution of enablement activities. Travel will be required on occasion for one-to-one and team meetings.


Your key responsibilities

• Contribute to and lead on the design and roll-out of services provided by the Central Financial Crime team. This includes deploying central team services to new countries/regions, including client due diligence operations.
• Provide guidance and consultation to Engagement Teams and Service Line Quality networks in relation to client acceptance and continuance decisions linked to financial crime.
• Review and enhance as necessary existing global technology to continually improve the enablement benefits to client servers and risk network.
• Develop learning content for network, including the continual review of Global SharePoints to keep the content engaging and relevant.
• Prepare material for the annual eLearning course for financial crime, working closely with a coalition of global SMEs.
• Lead conversations with the Global 2nd line of defence Compliance team to identify areas for control improvements and/or opportunities to up-skill users of 1st line controls.


Skills and attributes for success

• Financial crime experience at Manager or similar level in a multi-service line business.
• Practical knowledge of client due diligence including taking risk-based decisions to identify commercial solutions.
• Experience of co-creating and deploying technology to support financial crime compliance.
• Experience of deploying financial crime teams or supporting with their successful operation.
• Operational experience working with financial crime technology.
• Ability to work in a busy, deadline driven environment and meet commitments.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication.

• Technology and automation: Review and enhance as necessary existing technology and continue to enhance and evolve it to support the compliance initiatives and data management, including leading technology initiatives
• Communications: Work closely with the GDS team to review and continuously enhance communication platforms to the business and review communication templates, both within the team and for the stakeholders

Skills and attributes for success

• 5-8 years of proven experience in Compliance, Risk Management, or similar field, preferably within a professional services environment and relevant certifications.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent business writing, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to build strong working relationships across the business and develop a deep understanding of operational needs.
• Professional curiosity and adaptability to navigate a dynamic complioance landscape.
• Knowledge of local and global regulatory frameworks impacting compliance.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as PowerBI or similar reporting platforms.
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional and cross-border programs.

Join our fast-growing Direct Tax Compliance and Reporting CoE as a Senior. You’ll support multi-country client engagements in tax accounting and direct tax, assisting with Group Tax Accounting/Reporting services under US GAAP and IFRS. In this role, you’ll contribute to process improvement and help deliver efficient, high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Tax Accounting & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation and review of interim, quarterly, and year-end global tax provisions under IFRS and US GAAP
  • Support tax reporting deliverables received from controllers and tax managers across the Group
  • Contribute to US GAAP and IFRS disclosure preparation, including reconciliation of GAAP differences
  • Prepare and maintain tax provision memoranda and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX documentation and audit processes

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify and support implementation of process improvements in tax provision and compliance functions
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations and related schedules
  • Helping drive efficiencies on client’s or EY’s processes, designing and implementing simple solutions to complex processes, leveraging benefits of standardization, centralization and technology
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in tax reporting processes through design, control, and operational enhancements

Collaboration & Development

  • Assist in mentoring and developing junior staff on ASC 740, IAS 12, and other key tax concepts
  • Collaborate with internal tax, accounting, and finance teams, as well as external service providers

Skills and attributes for success

  • Broad and deep corporate tax compliance experience
  • Understanding of ASC 740 and IAS 12 frameworks
  • Corporate income tax experience (any country or countries)
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with multi-country teams
  • Ability to distil complex concepts into clear, actionable insights
  • Organized and able to deliver tax accounting in a short timeframe
  • Experience supporting and developing junior staff
  • Problem solving capabilities and process improvement mindset
  • Ability to manage time to deliver quality output

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Degree qualified
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate tax and withholding tax
  • Experience working in direct tax accounting, in professional services or industry (combination preferred, not essential)
  • Understanding of the tax reporting process, balance sheet reconciliation process, and basic understanding of direct tax compliance review
  • Good understanding of deferred tax concepts
  • Good experience in tax accounting packages and strong Excel skills
  • Agile to the changing client environment and able to provide quality deliverables under tight timelines
  • Experience providing tax services to a portfolio of clients
  • Proactive and able to identify opportunities for business development
  • Team player with the ability to add value to the current team

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Ability to plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own workload
  • Experience working with teams across multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience in process and technology design is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Tax transformation/compliance process improvement experience is a plus
  • Experience of rollout and/or implementation of tax technology is a plus
  • Accounting qualification and/or Tax qualification (ACA/CA/ACCA/CTA) is a plus
