What you will do
Collaborate with a team to safety certify the platform for Red Hat’s first ever offering of Linux in cars
Create and adapt Red Hat’s innovative functional safety life cycle
Conduct assessments of software products
Collaborate with internal and external assessors to ensure achievement of functional safety
Conduct reviews to monitor the execution of the processes required for functional safety
Perform safety impact assessments of software updates, bugs, and key performance indicator changes
Coach and mentor others to increase functional safety competency
Support the engineering teams for the functional safety life cycle activities
Bring your experience with automotive functional safety to discussions about software development and release processes
What you will bring
Previous experience conducting or assessing against international safety-related standards, e.g. ISO26262 (preferred) certification or other (IEC 61508, DO-178C)
Previous experience conducting or assessing against international quality-standards for the automotive sector, e.g. IATF 16949, ISO / IEC 33000, CMMI, Automotive SPICE
Experience with agile software development process, focused on short development cycles with demonstrable progress, and continuous planning with a team of peers
Solid written and verbal communication skills in English
Familiarity with Linux and modern operating systems concepts
The following are considered a plus:
Involvement in open source communities and understanding of how open source and free software communities work
Experience working as an RPM package maintainer
Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD)
Certified competence in functional safety
Certified competence in Quality Management
5+ years of experience conducting assessments of software against ISO 26262
