As an SDM you will be responsible for building and leading a team delivering projects across Alexa. You will have a significant influence on Alexa’s overall strategy by helping define product features, driving the system architecture, and spearheading best practices to enable a superior product. You will be expected to make appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to cross-functional teams. You’ll be responsible for ensuring your team operates efficiently. You’ll coordinate cross-team programs to deliver state-of-the-art natural language-based capabilities. You’ll help teams identify key risks, provide guidance on how to communicate them, and ensure leadership has the right visibility. This role will have to work closely with senior leaders across Alexa and lead strategic initiatives.Key job responsibilities
As an Alexa Personality SDM you will be at the forefront of AI innovation, shaping an assistant that fosters natural and productive interactions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with brilliant minds in the fields of AI, ML, and LLM. Partnering with software engineers, applied scientists, designers, and quality assurance, you will work horizontally across Alexa, own mechanisms to prioritize and streamline communication and project delivery across a diverse and highly technical range of Amazon partners. - 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
