Citi Ventures is an integral part of the Client organization at Citi, and consists of three core verticals:

  • Strategic Investing: sources and executes minority investments in innovative, early-stage companies with the primary goal to support and drive innovation in Citi businesses
  • Partnerships & Venture Development: capitalizes on Citi products and IP through spinouts, partnerships, and commercialization frameworks to drive revenue.
  • Enterprise Digital Assets: operates throughout Citi’s lines of businesses to provide cross-enterprise functionality and expertise for digital assets.

Internal Risk & Control and Governance:

  • Support the Business Execution and Controls (BEC) team within Citi Ventures and provide broad based support with Risk and Control and Governance requests and activities, including the Citi Ventures Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) to identify, manage and mitigate risks and perform ongoing monitoring to ensure internal controls are functioning properly, identifying any control gaps, and recommending control enhancements as needed
  • Support MCA transformation activities, including GPMP adoption, control monitoring and automation efforts.
  • Drive Risk ID assessments and reviews, including Non-Traded Market Risk
  • Lead deliverables as part of the Risk Governance Framework and update various governance documents to ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures
  • Assist with the annual update of the internal Citi Ventures Product Program document, striving for proactive alignment across ventures investing groups at Citi; contribute updates towards enterprise-wide policies and procedures
  • Manage the monthly Warrant tracking and attestation process for Citi Ventures
  • Drive proactive identification, management, and remediation of issues/findings/corrective action plans across Citi Ventures in line with firm requirements including artifacts/deliverables to support issue validation/resolution
  • Respond to internal 2nd and 3rd LOD and external regulator reviews, audits, inquiries, and attestation requests

Performance and Program Management:

  • Compose senior management updates and leadership presentations, including but not limited to the Venture Investing Advisory Committee and the quarterly Citi Ventures Updates
  • Support performance and activity planning, analysis, and tracking efforts
  • Provide broad ad hoc support to the Citi Ventures team with various management requests and deliverables
  • Maintain and proactively enhance the internal CV Strategic Investing Best Practices procedure guide
  • Act in a project management leadership capacity in supporting current and future projects (e.g. platforms, tools, core processes) towards successful and timely completion

Citi Ventures Operations:

  • Actively participate in the wire execution process to fund new equity venture investments
  • Own select operations activities for the group, including Continuity of Business and Record Management tasks
  • Assist with various 3rd party vendor relationship support tasks, including contract renewals
  • Provide other Business Management support to the Citi Ventures team, as needed
  • Champion various Culture efforts, including Voice of Employee workstreams and new team member Onboarding

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline: Finance, Mathematics, Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Management, Operations Research, Risk & Controls, Governance, Compliance, Strategy or Consulting role
  • Venture Investing knowledge a plus
  • 5+ years of work experience in Financial Services, Investment Banking, Investing, Management Consulting, or Data Analytics/Data Science
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication and influencing skills; ability to effectively produce impactful and sophisticated documentation
  • Excellent PowerPoint and slide creation skills and ability to tailor slide content to audience knowledge base and seniority level
  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to quickly develop advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Experience in Project Management, Strategic Initiatives Management and Business Analysis preferred
  • Quick learner with excellent communication skills, team-oriented mentality, and ability to work with counterparts in different areas of organization
  • Acute attention to detail, substantial problem-solving, as well as self-sufficiency and accuracy in delivering results are essential
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, highly matrix, dynamic environment
  • Openness to challenge and continuously challenging the status quo
  • Self-motivated, highly adaptive, and able to work well under high stress
