This is an advanced career stage technical leadership role, which requires both in-depth expertise on WAN architecture and routing technologies as well broad knowledge across switching, routing, security, and automation and must be able to support the positioning of complex multi-technology solutions.
What we will challenge you to achieve:
- Drive technical consulting activities in both new and existing WAN opportunities, acting as a trusted adviser to the account team and the customer. This will cover a wide range of routing and automation technologies, as well as cross-segment solutions in cooperation with other domain architects.
- Build and maintain close relationships with (i) Juniper Networks sales engineering and account management teams that support our customer base, (ii) Juniper GTM channel partners, and (iii) Juniper cooperate functions such as Product Line Management and Engineering.
- Support sales engineering teams with understanding customer requirements, providing guidance in the design of solutions, delivering technical deep-dive presentations and demonstrations, contributing to Proof-of-Concept tests, presenting/training at seminars, and assisting with tender responses.
- Become a go-to person and trusted advisor for the Juniper sales engineering community, including on Juniper’s own product portfolio and automation solutions as well as the wider industry trends and competitive solutions in your area of focus.
- Speak at internal and external conferences, technology days, like “Tech Clubs”, Juniper Innovation Days and other industry events.
Skills you need to have:
- Proven track record of working in a customer-facing pre-sale’s role selling networking equipment or end-user experience in design / architecture / vendor selection.
- Exceptional hands-on skills and/or and the ability to support complex proof-of-concept tests with potentially new products and emerging technologies.
- Excellent inter-personal skills are critical as you will work in virtual, multi-national teams, with little supervision, and diverse demands from many stakeholders.
- You must be able to have a credible (technical) interaction with Enterprise and Service Provider Engineering teams about the industry, technology, and Juniper products in the WAN domain to a very detailed technical level.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences, both internal and external, and at all levels, from deeply technical to executive level technical decision-makers. English verbal and written/presentation skills are mandatory, other major language skills are an advantage.
- Comfortable with extensive travel to visit with customers, partners and account teams.
Technical knowledge you need to have:
- Proven track record in designing WAN architectures. Experience in implementing such architectures and/or Juniper product knowledge are an advantage.
- Expert level and hands-on knowledge with routing protocols such as of TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, Multicast, Layer-2/3 VPN’s, BNG, Carrier Ethernet, as well as tunnelling technologies such as MPLS, RSVP, SR-TE, SRv6.
- Outstanding knowledge of network management, service provisioning, automation, network monitoring and telemetry interfaces such as Netconf/Rest APIs, YANG, OpenConfig, gRPC and how these apply to modern WAN architectures is essential. Experience with Juniper management solutions such as Paragon, MIST, Apstra or equivalent competitive products is an advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of Containers and Container related technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Automation and programming skills (e.g. Python, Ansible). Other Information:

Minimum Salary: $244,800.00
Maximum Salary:$351,900.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $244,800.00 and $351,900.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
