We’re looking for an Entry-Level Water Resource Engineer (Hydrogeologist) to support groundwater resource projects for municipal clients in Southern California.
Based in Irvine, California, you’ll learn from experienced scientists, engineers and project managers who are ready to mentor you. You’ll gain valuable field experience conducting oversight of drilling and well installation for groundwater production, injection, and monitoring wells; and investigations to support siting and design for managed aquifer recharge projects. You’ll balance your fieldwork with some time spent in the office working on data interpretation and visualization, quantitative modeling, report writing and coordinating logistics for field activities. Safety will be your priority, as you contribute to “incident-free” operations and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety in everything you do.
To be successful, you will need knowledge of fieldwork methodologies and procedures used in groundwater/ water resources work, so you can jump right into your fieldwork assignments. You will build on your familiarity and previous experience with groundwater investigations, drilling, and well installation, aquifer testing,ESRI GIS software, and associated data analysis, as an integral member of our team. Your multi-disciplinary team will help you grow and learn as a professional along your path to obtaining your Professional Geologist or Engineer license.
- Bachelor’s Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Geology, hydrogeology or closely related major
- 0-2 years’ of work experience in consulting or for a public agency
- Experience with Microsoft Office and ESRI Geographic Information System software
- 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain this certification
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Geology, hydrogeology or closely related major
- 40-hr HAZWOPER certification
- Groundwater modeling experience
- Other quantitative skills (e.g., scripting/programing in Python or R, experience with 3D visualization tools like Leapfrog or MVS, or experience with statistics/geostatistics)
