Reporting to: Operator Competency Engineering Manager - Europe Job Description: - This job position requires an experienced Operator Training Simulator (OTS)/Dynamic Simulation Engineer to work closely with the external customer and Honeywell teams on Operator Competency solutions (Operator Training Simulators and Process Digital Twins (PDT)).
- The Lead Application Engineer – Operator Competency will act as technical consultant/solution architect and technically lead multiple teams to successfully complete projects and service programs assigned, within budgeted time and cost constraints.
- The successful candidate will also contribute to pre-sales activities such as customer presentations, pilot / feasibility studies, communicate value proposition. Proposal content generation and estimation.
- The successful candidate will be able to identify, create and sustain business value(s) of HCI product communicating to customer(s) effectively during pursuits and delivery.
- The successful candidate will act as leader in large / complex pursuits and projects, providing integrated technical solutions (maybe multi-discipline(s)) to meet requirements.
- This position will be responsible to analyze risks and opportunities, and adjust technical approaches and execution plans to minimize risk & maximize opportunity.
- Candidate will be a highly skilled & respected SME in Operator Training Simulators and the wider application of dynamic simulation, being able to influence technology development planning for future product roadmaps.
- Candidate will ensure adherence to HSE best practices and appropriate guidelines. Ensuring adherence to relevant internal and industry best practices and guidelines will be an important aspect of the role.
Minimum Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or similar discipline with 10+ years’ experience. This candidate will need to display excellent knowledge of O&G and Manufacturing business process understanding. Additional qualification, e.g. degree in Business Administration beneficial.
Expert knowledge of at least one of the following process simulation packages: UniSim Design, Aspen HYSYS, Invensys DYNSIM or similar.
- Knowledge of DCS/SIS systems from Honeywell, Yokogawa, Siemens, Foxboro, ABB, Emerson, etc.
- Ability to interact with project teams and peers to anticipate and resolve technical issues, and competing project priorities.
- Ability to identify upsell or increase variation opportunities.
- Ability to perform sales and proposal support –presentation, estimation, etc. and approves the labor estimates and technical risk mitigations.
- Good organizational knowledge of divisional departments and business units.
- In depth understanding of the business value of process & business performance applications in process and manufacturing industries.
- Champions initiatives to resolve critical process and technological related issues, as well as new product launch.
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills to explain design & technical solutions from customers' requirement points of view. Able to build strong relationships with the customers’ project leadership.
- Considerable contact with customer and various levels of management to obtain technical data and present project status and issues.
- Understanding of customers’ business processes / in-depth process domain knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with business knowledge. Highly integrative thinker.
- Good understanding of the market / industry trends in relations to HCI product offerings.
- Good understanding of P&L elements.
- In-depth knowledge in engineering or operations in industries such as oil & gas, refining, chemicals, mining, pulp & paper or others.
- Good understanding of ISO and GPM.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Programming skills considered desirable (VB, VBA, Python, etc.)
Knowledge of other European language is beneficial.
Six Sigma Green Belt certification- Familiarity with and experience in the use of Six Sigma tools to accomplish process improvements in work area will be considered beneficial.
