USAC Application Engineer (Automotive Aftermarket Division)

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Application Engineer for the Automotive Aftermarket Division, you will have the opportunity to put your curiosity to good use and collaborate with some of the most innovative people in the world. Here's how to make an impact:

  • Support of Existing and New Product and Process to our MSO (Multi Shop Organizations) – including NPI (New Product Introduction), trainings, continuous improvement, and other application engineering activities.
  • Supports emerging automation and robotics for AAD (Automotive Aftermarket Division)
  • Showcasing 3M products and process solutions and how they can increase profitability for body shop customers.
  • Hands-on product demonstrations for small and large groups (internal and external training)
  • Collaborating with product development teams, channel partners and business teams to provide practical solutions to our customers and be the voice of the customer in all situations.
  • Creating and implementing customer facing technical collateral and training content.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting with sales professionals & end-users involving existing products and new product introductions.
  • Testing & benchmarking the competitive landscape and bringing the voice of our customers to the lab and business.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree/Technical diploma (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution or apprenticeship with technical qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience in a technically aligned, customer focused role in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Current, valid driver’s license is required.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or business discipline from an accredited university
  • Five (5) years of experience in the collision repair industry
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office etc.)
  • Previous experience serving industrial markets such as collision repair, paint industry, manufacturing, OEM, or insurance industry.
  • Previous hardware / software experience with automotive calibration & diagnostic equipment
  • Previous experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training and/or technical sales
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation)
  • Ability to efficiently analyse, problem solve and implement solutions.
  • Possess strong & effective "hands-on" demonstration techniques.

Work location:

  • Work location: Hybrid Eligible Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center, at least 3 days per week)

  • Maplewood, MN
