What you’ll be doing:

This role reports to the Global Head of Commercial Card Sales with dual reporting into the NAM Cluster Lead. As such, you will be responsible for ensuring alignment of our sales strategy and resources with our product strategy and broader treasury and procurement client penetration strategy, by actively shaping those strategies and leading the Cards sales team.

You will be responsible for alignment of our NAM sales teams to drive growth across identified client opportunities by client segment and client industry, and building industry-specific content, expertise, and sales initiatives within the sales team. You will ensure consistent, professional delivery of all sales management reporting and strong disciplines including sales training and effectiveness, lead generation, network engagement, calling intensity, and revenue ramp.

The NAM Sales Head is the senior representative of Cards and Citi to internal groups and external client buying centers.


  • Design, deliver and execute against the sales plan/pipeline goals of the NAM Commercial Cards team.
  • Drive Card origination through development of client pipeline sufficient to provide required business growth.
  • Establish relationships with key clients and business partners to identify new business opportunities.
  • Manage key Sales metrics such as calling intensity, deal closure, contracting and win/loss analyses.
  • Adopt and leverage new marketing strategies such as partnerships, conferences, advisory boards.
  • Monitor and understand customer needs, market and economic trends as well as business opportunities and threats
  • Embed quality in client touch-points including proposals and presentations.
  • Coordinate internally to drive timely and flawless execution of client mandates.
  • Develop sales talent through active coaching, leading training opportunities and attracting top sales talent.
  • Develop Our People and be seen as a Champion of Progress who delivers value to client and partners alike.
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same.


What we are looking for

  • 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years' managerial experience
  • Passion for sales with a bias for proactivity and urgency
  • Ability to manage and lead independently in a highly matrixed environment
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of and other banking products
  • Advanced skills & ‘customer first’ mind-set
  • Proven track record in sale of cards, payments, cash management, trade, and / or technology based consulting solutions
  • Large client relationship experience from a banking or product perspective
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise (C-Level) written and verbal communication
  • Persuasive and articulate personality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal internally and externally with clients
  • Strong organizational & planning skills
  • Ability to manage & synthesize many pieces of solution / technical data into a single, flowing solution within tight timeline
  • Proven leadership skills

  • Bachelor’s/Universitydegree, Master’s degree preferred; managerial experience
