Job Description:
As the Sr. Director, Group Product Strategy, you will have primary responsibility for developing and articulating a clear, compelling vision and strategy in alignment with PayPal's overall strategy. You will focus on establishing a shared vision across the company for a portfolio of products with a deliberate and cohesive strategy. You will lead product strategy development and develop a clear, executable view of the product portfolio strategy with cross-functional stakeholders.
You will shape the architectural roadmap and balance innovative design and technical implementation while balancing regulatory requirements, time to market, meeting customer needs, and product profitability. You will champion the customer experience and prioritize customer needs in product requirements and decision-making. You will define and use metrics that inform the success of products, including usability studies, research, and market analysis. To drive data-driven decision-making, you will standardize workstreams to include analytics, customer discovery, market research, and competitive analysis.
You will be responsible for product portfolio profitability, including budgetary decisions. You will lead operational mechanisms that drive execution and accountability, including Product Reviews, Operating Reviews, and Business Reviews, interfacing with senior leadership as needed.
You will lead a team of product managers, who partner with global cross-functional partners, including content strategists, data scientists, product designers, and user experience researchers. You will maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the standard.
Your day-to-day:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement company-wide product strategies that align with overall business goals.
- Executive Collaboration: Partner with C-level executives and senior leadership to define product vision, long-term roadmap, and business objectives.
- Market & Competitive Intelligence: Drive market and competitive analysis strategically, identifying trends, customer needs, and potential disruptions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Oversee and collaborate with product management, engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless strategy execution.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee multiple product lines' strategic direction and growth.
- Financial and Operational Impact: Work with finance and product teams to define product portfolio financial models, KPIs, and success metrics.
- Innovation & Vision: Identify and champion new product opportunities and business models, guiding the development of products that anticipate and meet market demands.
- Talent Development: Build and lead a high-performing team of senior product strategists.
- Stakeholder Management: Present and communicate the product strategy and progress to executives, board members, and other key stakeholders.
What you need to bring:
- Experience: Minimum of 18 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Proven track record of driving the strategy and execution of large, complex product portfolios with significant business impact.
- Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to think strategically at both a high level and operational level. Deep expertise in setting and executing long-term product strategy and making data-driven decisions.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams and executives.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business models, financial management, and operational efficiency.
- Data-Driven: Expertise in leveraging data, analytics, and customer insights to guide product decisions and track performance.
- Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the financial technology industry and its dynamics, along with the ability to understand emerging trends and their potential impact on the business.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex strategies and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
