This is a Monday - Friday Night Shift Position. 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM with occasional weekend overtime.

Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of duties with machinery maintenance, especially in electrical and control system wiring and troubleshooting. Program, repair and perform PMs on equipment and drives on equipment to maintain safe operation of equipment, production, and quality. Other responsibilities include sourcing parts for obsoleted parts and ordering them, documenting all the maintenance activities performed, installation and validations of equipment. Will support and help other groups like Engineering, Process, QA, Safety and Facilities in resolving problems, improvements, investigations etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify the problem by reading schematics/prints, where available, and make necessary repairs on the equipment or system to ensure safe operation of the machine or system
  • Train and guide team members regarding controls aspect and upgrades
  • Help team members on rebuild/retrofit machine or machine components as per specifications
  • Perform installation, replacement or decommissioning of equipment
  • Perform validations, as necessary, for equipment
  • Identify and locate parts in the stock room through MP2 or other such system
  • Participate in various company run programs like CI, Safety initiatives, Audits, investigations etc.
  • Support projects and improvement initiatives from engineering, process, QA, Safety and operations group
  • Document performed tasks for the day into the maintenance log, before the end of the shift
  • Safeguard all corporate or plant confidential information
  • Use good housekeeping practices to maintain clean, orderly and safe work area
  • Upgrade technical skills by various educational workshops, on-site or off-site trainings supported by WEST
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a safe and clean work environment throughout the maintenance department
  • Instruct, train, guide and assist other maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair drives and control systems on various equipment
  • Perform PMs on drives and control systems
  • Recommend and implement improvements and technological advancement to plant equipment and manufacturing processes, where necessary
  • Participate in decision making process regarding specifications, testing, installation and validation of new systems or during replacement of obsoleted system
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Work Experience
  • AS Degree/Certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of which 3 years’ is required in troubleshooting various control systems
  • Excellent Electrical/Electronic and PLC troubleshooting skill on various platforms and some programming skill is preferred.
  • Excellent and thorough understanding of machine operability and mechanical assemblies
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Available for overtime, self-starter, a team player and should be able to work independently
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Programming skills of VFD’s and PLC’s
  • Some knowledge of utility maintenance like boiler, chillers and compressors
  • Sound knowledge of CMMS and MS Office
  • Any other certification is a plus

Physical Requirements
Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to wear and use a full-face respirator
  • Stand and walk for 12 hours per shift
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
  • Frequent bilateral grip/grasp and manual dexterity work required
  • Frequent bending and twisting, squatting, pushing and pulling and working at elevated heights and in confined spaces as required by the job
  • Must be able to tolerate industrial odors, heat and high temperatures, and smells on a frequent basis
