What to Expect
We are looking for a dependable and skilled Engineering Technician to oversee equipment maintenance and support daily operations in our 10,000 sqft Palo Alto lab which serves over 100 people. Candidates should have experience maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment including gloveboxes, vacuum pumps, and fume hoods. They should be comfortable working in a lab environment and with hazardous materials, and experience with cell materials is a plus. They should be able to work with lab management, other technicians, and engineers to upkeep the lab operations.
What You’ll Do
  • Troubleshoot the instruments and arrange regular maintenance working with other team members and the instrument vendors
  • Specifically responsible for gloveboxes, vacuum pumps, and fume hoods. Expand responsibilities to other equipment as needed which can include analytical equipment such as BET and PSD
  • Maintain inventory for lab consumable and gas to ensure they are restocked on time
  • Perform manual tasks around the lab such as disposing hazardous waste, organizing lab benches and stock room, daily instrument and supply checking, replacing gas cylinders, and general equipment maintenance like refilling oil for vacuum pumps
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs
  • Report any issues related to the process and/or the lab and help find the solution
  • Operate various chemical analysis and materials characterizations instruments to provide the analysis results to the engineering team is preferred
What You’ll Bring
  • Good communication skills and well organized
  • Skilled in equipment maintenance
  • Experience working safely with hazardous materials and chemicals
  • Experience with analytical tools (XRD, TGA, FTIR, PSA, BET, and SEM), slurry processing, electrode fabrication, coin cell and pouch cell testing is preferred
