Meta Reality Labs is shaping the future of technology and our Industrial Design team is helping bring the next generation of hardware to life. As an Industrial Design Architect, you will use your hands-on product/mechanical design skills to create delightful, holistically considered products. A demonstrated mechanical aptitude and in-depth understanding of industrial design will enable you to take things from “outlandish idea” to “plan of record”.
Industrial Design Architect Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Industrial Design team to develop technical solutions ranging from high-level experience prototypes to detailed, functional designs
  • Drive rapid concept exploration, iterative prototyping, and mechanical implementation of inventive design features
  • Push the state of the art of physical technology integration and manufacturing processes
  • Create and refine effective ways to address complex ergonomic challenges
  • Partner closely with Product Design Engineering and other internal teams to align design intent and rapidly move projects forward
  • Leverage external partners as needed to implement novel manufacturing solutions
  • Travel internationally to support manufacturing builds
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience developing high-volume consumer electronics or wearable tech products
  • Experience leading technical projects and directing development activities
  • Expertise in creating high-fidelity mockups, mechanisms, and rapid prototypes
  • Experience designing plastic and metal parts for high volume manufacturing processes
  • Experience defining product-level mechanical architectures
  • Expertise in 3D CAD modeling at the detail and assembly level in NX, Creo, or Solidworks, including complex surfacing
  • Experience working collaboratively with ID, ME, EE, and PM teams
  • Communication, visualization, and problem solving skills

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
