As a Logistics Sourcing Specialist – USAC, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by leading USAC Domestic logistics RFPs, rail car leasing, DC & warehousing leases, and more.

  • Strategic Problem Solving: Utilize analytical thinking and Leverage market insights, data analytics, and supplier information to develop innovative solutions.
  • Sourcing Process Management: Lead USAC Domestic transportation RFPs, rail car leasing, and DC & warehousing leases.
  • Contract Negotiation and Supplier Management: Negotiate sourcing contracts and build strategic relationships with key suppliers.
    • Develop a contract repository system and a methodology for tracking contract expirations. To ensure compliance with corporate sourcing policies and procedures.
    • Negotiate and renew contracts with warehouse suppliers that support plant operations.
  • Claims and Cost Management: Manage major claims against carriers. Drive and support the implementation of cost-saving programs and opportunities. Review warehouse and DC 3PL cost structures to identify opportunities for savings. Track and manage costs associated with 3PL-managed DCs and consolidation centers.
  • RFI/RFP and Contract Standardization: Conduct RFIs and RFPs to identify the most suitable carriers and 3PLs.
  • Market Analysis and Process Improvement: Analyze market trends related to labor, energy prices, and warehouse costs to proactively engage suppliers for future sourcing decisions.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of transportation or Logistics sourcing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or Supply Change management from an accredited institution
  • Seven (7) years of Transportation and Warehouse Sourcing in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Strong program management and problem-solving skills and collaboration across teams, functions and organization.

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood at least 3-4 days per week)
