Job Description:

  • Build andmaintainreusable,responsiveand high-performance web components that ensure uniformity across PayPal’s diverse product ecosystem.

  • Enable teams to move faster by providing well-documented, scalable components that can be easily integrated into any product.

  • Influence the evolution of PayPal's design system to meet the needs of a growing, global user base.

  • Work closely with design, engineering, and product teams to ensure alignment and consistency across all web applications.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Lead the development of reusable, modular web components for PayPal’s design system.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensurecomponentquality.

  • Implement scalable, performant, and accessible UI components for various products and brands.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code to support the design system.

  • Drive engineeringexcellenceby creating reusable, production-ready frameworks.

  • Conduct code reviews, providing mentorship to junior engineers.

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.

  • Ensure all components are responsive, accessible, and optimized for performance.

  • Drive the adoption of the design system across teams to streamline development and improve consistency.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate them into the design system.

  • Iterate and improve components based on feedback from internal teams and end-users.

  • Ownership and strive for excellence in your role.

What Do You Need to Bring

  • 4+ years of experience in front-end development, focusing on reusable components and design systems.

  • Knowledgein HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React and others.

  • Knowledgein developing reusable UI components using a component-driven architecture (e.g., Storybook, React, Web Components).

  • Deep understanding of design system principles, including atomic design,componentlibraries, theming, and scaling.

  • in front-endbuildtools and version control (e.g., Webpack, Git, NPM/Yarn).

  • Experience implementing andmaintaininga scalable CSS architecture (e.g., CSS-in-JS, or CSS modules, BEM etc.).

  • Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG) standards and ensuring that all web components are built with accessibility in mind.

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks for front-end code (e.g., playwright, Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library).

  • Strong communicationand collaboration skills.

  • Experience interacting with engineering teams from multiple geo-locations.
